Yes i think links in profile is good and beneficial for SEO and it specially seen in forum posting

Profile link building is a worthwhile Off page SEO technique. For profile link building, we create user profiles on various forums, blogs, social media and web 2.0 sites, etc. After registeration these sites allow us to create a profile to tell other members about our hobbies and interests and a little bit about ourself. Many of them also allow us to put one or more links to our website into this profile usually in "About me" section. Profiles links building does help if they are from High pr do-follow sites. For this to be effective our profile has to be publicly viewable. Mostly forums allow us to create profiles. One thing is must that Don't fill the entire bio section with backlinks, as this will appear suspicious to both search engines and the forum moderators. Profile Links are harder to get indexed by the search engines So we can use Social Bookmarking technique to get them indexed and once they get indexed they are very effective for a site Rank.

Its not beneficial for every time.In forums we are giving links in signature links.They are very much essential and effective fo0r getting the better result.But in Blogs we need to post the link every time while posting.We cant save the links in the profile.After typing the comment, you need to type the link you need.The name always link to the profile.So, it will not be effective for the SEO.

Profile linking is a big help for me. Mostly if you have the lists with higher Pr's, a better way to have a better result for the traffic that you want.

One more additional link can be very helpful in fact. I don't see any harm at all.

Any link is useful even nofollow links can be useful because if the website is popular enough you might get people that just click on the link even if google doesn't count it in the indexing.
